I am a passionate, dynamic and well-rounded educator who seeks to bring forth excellence, confidence, skill, ambition, curiosity, independence and outstanding results from my students. My experience as Head of English for over 6 years in one of the UK’s highest-performing educational establishments allowed me to exhibit – and expand upon – this success. Having also been a Literacy Coordinator, EAL Coordinator, Head of Year and an Examiner for all major Exam Boards such as Edexcel, AQA and Cambridge, I possess an exemplary track record when it comes to exam success and pupil development. My consistent rating as an ‘outstanding’ practitioner – both within the UK and international settings - is demarcated by high personal standards and expectations, a fostered spirit of aspiration in my pupils and a culture of self-reflection and active learning. More importantly, throughout my career I have strived to instill a love for learning that ventures into - and even beyond - academia.
I plan my bespoke lessons well in advance, drawing upon a number of proven methodologies, modalities and technologies. I have paid memberships with a number of highly-rated educational providers such as TES, Twinkl, Teachit and TPT as well as exclusive access to Exam Boards’ own, restricted areas; this allows me access to a plethora of resources and learning materials which – alongside my own carefully created resources – informs my teaching, particularly when it comes to exam practise. I prioritise discussions with students about their needs, preferences and goals ahead of – and throughout – our sessions. I keep any subsequent plan flexible and open to change, if students’ needs require it. My focus is to lead students to their goals confidently and, with this in mind, I am fully invested. All homework, exam practice and additional work will be assessed promptly, with thorough feedback. I am also happy to touch base with students in between sessions at no extra charge. Through strong relationships and a teaching style which has been described as engaging, imaginative, inspirational and personalised, I am certain we can achieve success.
