I am a South African teacher, trained for multiple curricula, including English National Curriculum, American and Canadian. I taught Science and Biology to year 8 to year 11 students in South Africa for 4 years and have been in the UAE for 4 years, teaching year 10 , 11 and A Level Biology and Physics. In these years I have achieved excellent results in all the grades, including my students who have taken GCSEs. I have been teacher for a total of 8 years and an English additional language lecturer at a college for a year in South Africa. In my experience as a teacher, I have worked with kids of multiple abilities and have achieved great results each time. I enjoy a great rapport with my students as I am able to meet them at their level of understanding ,and help them to reach a better understanding of content, which results in overall improvement in their studies. I love teaching Science, and this comes across in the way I tailor my teaching style to benefit the students I teach. In my years of teaching students that are home language and EAL speakers, I have gained a lot of experience in helping my students communicate their ideas better and in helping them eliminate language as a barrier to learning. I encourage my students to be holistic learners, focusing on learning and understanding, which results in great results and increased engagement in their work. I ensure that Science becomes less daunting for students by making it more realistic and fun. My students always find it amazing how much easier it is to do well in topics when you have a better understanding of them and a fun way to remember key points.
