I am an experienced English teacher and tutor currently working at Dubai’s highest-achieving non-selective international school, based on examination results. I regularly teach top-set GCSE English Language and Literature classes, as well as IB English at Higher Level. I have taught English Language and Literature for more than eight years in schools and colleges in the UK and internationally. I have also worked as an examiner for AQA and Pearson, giving me a detailed understanding of assessment criteria and what separates an average response from a top-level one. My tutoring is focused, practical and tailored to the individual student. I identify gaps quickly, explain difficult ideas clearly and create accessible, carefully targeted resources. I understand how to unlock the highest grades and help students develop writing that is perceptive, subtle and convincing. I can support students with exam preparation, essay writing, literary analysis, coursework and general confidence in English. My students have achieved strong GCSE results, including grades 8 and 9, and I have experience working with learners across a wide range of starting points. My aim is not simply to help students complete their work, but to make them more independent, accurate and confident.
