My main goal as a tutor is to create an environment where motivation is a key element of my lessons. I generate enthusiasm in my students by maintaining a passionate and energetic tone throughout the class. An ability to build positive personal relationships with students is important. I take care to notice each students particular strengths and weaknesses, allowing me to provide regular individual feedback. Students appreciate being treated as an individual. Mutual respect between tutor and students creates a learning environment. My students know from the outset exactly what is expected of them in terms of work. This prevents misunderstanding later on. Once mutual respect has been established, a sense of variety can be very beneficial. I consistently employ High Frequency- Low stakes testing, deconstructing activities, reducing activities and comparing activities in my tutoring lessons. A variety of ways can deepen student knowledge.
