With over 20 years of teaching experience, I can confidently say that I am an outstanding classroom practitioner and consistently demonstrate high standards in teaching and learning. I am passionate about Art and Photography and throughout my career, I have demonstrated high standards for all my pupils. I am constantly looking for different ideas and ensuring my pupils learn new skills and techniques within Art, giving them every opportunity to be creative and imaginative, which I feel are lifelong skills. I believe as a teacher, it is imperative to experiment with a variety of teaching styles and resources to get the best possible level of attainment and to maximise the enjoyment of the lessons, to be able to learn from a variety of experiences and take risks.
I currently teach Art and Design from KS3 to KS5 (Years 7-13) but during my career, I have also taught Art to Year1 to 6 in the UAE and the UK. As well as that I have also taught BTEC Art and Design and Photography to KS4 and textiles to KS3 in the UK. I run afterschool clubs in my school where the pupils try a variety of media and techniques that are different to the lessons, plus work alongside the G&T pupils, where they have opportunities to create artwork for the school, including a recent wall mural. Throughout the years I have held several Art exhibitions including fashion shows for the pupils and parents which have always been a great success and a way to showcase the fantastic work the pupils do.
During my career, I also had an opportunity to tutor children who were unable to go to school for a variety of reasons, ranging from KS3 to GCSE Art and Design. It was a privilege to help and work with these pupils to gain the best creative skills possible.
I have been in several netball teams in the UK and Abu Dhabi, playing in matches. I also enjoy water sports and walking. I am a keen photographer and came first in a photography competition, which was a highlight for me. I also love spending time with my family and friends and staying in my caravan in North Wales, walking on the beaches and painting the coastline, a great passion of mine, this led to me having some of my paintings in one of the galleries in the local town.
